An auction to get rid of remaining items at the closed Abraham Lincoln Elementary in Bristol Township took place on Saturday morning.
Desks, chairs, cafeteria tables and anything else that could be removed from the school was up for grabs.

New Bristol Auction, based in Bristol Borough, was contracted by the Bristol Township School District to carry out the auctions at the district’s closed elementary schools.
The auction took about four hours to finish, according to Ralph Clark, the owner of the New Bristol Auction. Many bidders bought items from the school simply because they have memories at the school.
About 40 registered bidders were present on Saturday to get a piece of the old neighborhood school located on Plumtree Place.

“It goes back to the taxpayers, so that is good,” said Clark.
Bob Maloney, the operations director for the Bristol Township School District, was on site on Saturday.ย He saidย the funds raised from the auction will go into the district’s general fund and towards individual projects.

According to Clark, some people came to the auction only to see their old school and places they have memories one more time before the school is torn down.
There are four more auctions left to be held at theย closed Fitch, Washington, Maple Shade and Lafayette elementary schools. There are no dates scheduled but the auctions are forthcoming.
The district is currently working with the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority to sell off five of the district’s closed schools.
