Bucks County police took time this week to hold remembrance ceremonies for fallen police officers.
Monday’s day of remembrance started with a 9 a.m. ceremony at the Bristol Township Municipal Complex on Bath Road. Detective Sgt. George Stuckey, who was gunned down on Bath Road near the police station in 1972, was remembered by officers. A student from Harry S. Truman High School played TAPS during the ceremony. Last year, Bath Road between Route 13 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) was officially renamed for Stuckey.

Following the Bristol Township ceremony, several police agencies attended a service in Bensalem to remember that town’s fallen lawmen.
At noon, the Middletown community remembered Detective Christopher Jones, who was killed during a traffic stop on Route 1 in 2009. With the Jones family in attendance, Chief Joseph Bartorilla recalled the sacrifices made by law enforcement and told the fallen Middletown officer’s family that his department was there to support them.
Monday was capped off with the Bucks County Police Memorial Ceremony at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Newtown Township. Law enforcement from across the county showed up to honor officers from various departments who passed away while serving under their position.
