The Bristol Township School Board will consider hiring an architect to draw up plans to turn a Levittown school into an operations, transportation and administration facility.
The school board will vote at their Monday evening meeting on whether to hire Schrader Group Architecture to provide “full architectural and engineering services for design and specifications for the conversion of Clara Barton Elementary School into District Administration, Operations and Transportation Center.”

Barton, which sits next to Harry S. Truman High School, is one of six Bristol Township elementary schools that will close for good this summer as the district consolidates into three new, larger elementary buildings.
In the past, district officials have stated the school is centrally located, near Green Lane and has the land it needs. In an area where large tracts of land are sparse and expensive, the property also could be used in the future for expansion of Truman or construction of a new high school.
Last month, district officials floated the possibility of the school being used as the operations, transportation and administration hub. They said an access road could be built to Green Lane so buses stored at the site wouldn’t have to travel through the residential Blueridge neighborhood in Levittown.

Officials said earlier this week that they are continuing to work on plans for the other schools that are preparing to close. A public meeting on the topic will be held later this month.
