Students at Armstrong Middle School in Bristol Township took park in an exciting global literacy program last month.

A classroom of students at the school on Wistar Road put their growing knowledge of global illiteracy issues to the test when they participated in a global webcast.

The students, who participated in a webcast late last month with students of the Malonje Primary School in Malawi, Africa, posed questions through a translator to learn how education and literacy has been improved in the third world country since a literacy center was established.

The students, who have taken action to help fund similar literacy centers in Mali, Peru and Nepal through the Students Rebuild Literacy Challenge project, made 600 bookmarks filled with inspirational messages for students around the world to read.

The Bezos Family Foundation, which houses the Students Rebuild program, will match each bookmark with $1 that will support Save the Childrenโ€™s Literacy Boost program, which will fund even more literacy centers at schools in Mali, Peru and Nepal.
