Falls Township has recently launched a new online registry to allow residents the option to opt out of solicitation.

The effort, which will make it easier for residents to keep unwanted salespeople off their properties, was adopted in 2014, but officially announced on the township’s Facebook page last week.

The online formย has already seen nearly 200 resident signups, according to township officials.

โ€œWe wanted to make it as easy as possible to prevent solicitors from bothering our residents,โ€ Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said. โ€œAn important part of the no solicitation registry is ensuring that salespeople adhere to our ordinance and respect our residentsโ€™ wishes to not be disturbed.โ€

The no solicitation registry ordinance will not apply to charities, nonprofits, religious or political organizations as those entities are permitted.

Once residents have used the online portal to signup, their name will be added to a no solicitation registry. That registry will then be distributed to anyone who applies for a solicitation permit.
