Smoke and flames billowed from a two-story Levittown home on Jonquil Lane in Bristol Township Monday evening.
A blaze heavily damaged the home despite the best efforts of local volunteer firefighters who took about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The home, which appeared “neat and orderly,” had nine occupants who were renting, according to Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito.
Edgely Fire Company Deputy Chief Joe Cavanaugh said crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor.
“The crews did a great job to knock it down in about 20 some minutes,” Cavanaugh told LevittownNow.com.

“Smoke was blowing across Haines Rd and flames shooting through the roof when I went past,” local resident Karen Bell Curnew wrote on Facebook.

Dippolito said he was still working to determine the cause but the fire began near a mattress in a second-floor bedroom.

Residents reported smelling smoke around 7 p.m. and not being able to find the source. Fire was discovered around 7:45 p.m. and firefighters were called, according to resident accounts given to fire investigators.
Aside from the second-floor fire damage, the first floor suffered smoke and water damage, the deputy chief said

No injuries were reported.
