On Monday, Dow Chemical Company announced 3 percent cut to its global workforce.

The company, which says it employs roughly 2,000 people in the Delaware Valley, operates a large facility that sits in both Bristol Borough and Bristol Township. According to a fact sheet, the facility produces ingredients for paints and coatings, paper finishing, floor polishes, adhesives, roof coatings, caulks and sealants.

In addition to the job cuts, the large company also said they are implementing “additional minor adjustments to its asset footprint to enhance competitiveness.”

“Reductions of positions will vary and impact to specific Dow locations is not available,” Dow Chemical spokesperson Rachelle Schikorra said. Further information on whether the Bristol facility will be closed or altered was not available as of press time.

Monday’s announcement came on the heals of the pending separation of a significant portion of Dow Chemicals chlorine value chain.

Schikorra told LevittownNow.com the moves “will further accelerate Dow’s value growth and productivity targets.”

When the adjustments are finished, the chemical giant hopes to save approximately $300 million.
