A Philadelphia man is accused of using a SEPTA work truck several times without authorization.

Charles A. Stier, 32, was charged Thursday morning with four counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by District Judge John Kelly Jr. and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Detectives from SEPTA’s Inspector General’s office received information from the transit system’s power maintenance department in October that Stier was using a work truck for personal use without authorization.

The truck was allegedly taken by Stier several times from the SEPTA compound in the 2400 block of Big Oak Road in Middletown.

The 32 year old admitted to SEPTA investigators that he took the work truck several times for personal use. He said he went to Wawa and drove along a railroad access path, parked and slept inside the truck, according to court papers.

A SEPTA complaint form attached to court documents says authorities have security video of Stier taking the truck.

During his arraignment, a SEPTA detective said Stier had turned himself in to authorities.

Stier told the judge he was fired from SEPTA and is unemployed currently.
