Driving around and viewing the mass of holiday lights is a popular tradition among Levittown residents.

A stop to a nearby coffee shop for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, then nestled in the car with family and friends to the tune of holiday music is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit.

To most Levittown residents though, enjoying the holiday lights of the area would not be complete without a stop in the Willow Wood section in Falls Township.

Thousands of lights have graced 1 White Spruce Lane for the past 21 years and ever since its been a popular tourist and local attraction. This year will be no different when Santa himself turns on the lights this Saturday, December 6. Click to view the light display’s website.

For the second year in a row, the Men of Harmony Chorus will be on hand singing traditional Christmas carols at 5:30 p.m., Santa himself will arrive by fire truck just moments before 6 p.m. and according to spokesperson for the light display himself Ray Johnson, Santa will not leave until he has spoken to every child and handed them a candy cane.

Voted best Christmas light display in Bucks, the magnificently lit home on White Spruce Lane broke the record in 2011- displaying five times the amount of lights on Clark Griswold’s house in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The record in 2011 included 125,000 holiday lights, 225 blow mold characters, two dozen blow ups and a train large enough for a child to ride.

The goal this year is to surpass even that.

Although weather this year may be an issue, according to Johnson, the goal is to reach past 150,000 lights.

The crew, which have been placing lights since October 4, consists of 30 hardworking volunteers, dedicated to promoting the holiday spirit through festive lights once again. The youngest of volunteers being just 14, the oldest is 85, according to Johnson.

“We have never had a collection box, [we] do not accept donations and are not entered in any of the holiday decorating contests,” said the homeowner of 1 White Spruce Lane, who wishes to remain nameless. “This is something that has been done from the very beginning for the children of our community by a group of my friends and family I call “the best crew that money can buy.”

Although the site doesn’t have a collection box, they have stated on their website they prefer those who attend to donate to the Levittown Fire Company #1, the company that serves the very community the home resides in. Click to view the fire company’s website.
