The voters decided that state Senator Tommy Tomlinson will serve the residents of the Sixth District once again.

Tomlinson, an incumbent Republican, bested Democratic competitor Dr. Kimberly Rose by garnering more than 45,000 votes, which is 65 percent of those who voted in the district.

At an election event in Doylestown Tuesday night, Tomlison told LevittownNow.com his positive relationship with voters and his experience were the reasons for his success.
“We saw a lot of voting today, a lot of crossover voting, which just goes to show that the voters in this region don’t vote by party but by candidate and issue,” he said.
The senator, who has held his seat since 1996, battled with Rose for television advertising time. Rose hit Tomlinson in the commercials and linked him to Gov. Tom Corbett.

Tomlinson referred to Rose’s campaign as a dishonest one and one the voters saw through.
Rose’s spokesperson Kate Martucci said the Northampton resident was “extremely proud of the race she ran and her candidacy.”

The 30 to 40 volunteers who worked double and triple shifts on Rose’s behalf were thanked by Martucci, who added “sometimes you come up a little short.”
Tomlinson said he was ready to get back to work with the legislature and newly-elected governor Tom Wolf.
I am very comfortable though – I have no problem reaching across the aisle and working with everyone to get things done.”
