As of midnight, Farry was leading Kiley by 3,641 votes, with 21 of 38 districts recorded.

“[Kiley] called to concede the race. I commend her for doing that. In this day and age, a lot of candidates don’t call to concede,” he said.

The race for the 142nd Legislative District has been heated since campaigning began in early 2014.

The Democratic primary race between former Neshaminy School Board member Ritchie Webb and Kiley was ugly. Not much changed once Kiley moved on and faced Farry in the general election.

Kiley, who was endorsed by the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers, was linked to political action committee Middletown United. The group faced issues involving campaign finance law violations in connection with contributions to Kiley’s campaign.

Most recently, Kiley called Farry out because he made shooting targets available for residents at Olde Langhoren Harvest Day. She also made an unsubstantiated claims that he violated campaign finance laws.

“There were some ugly turns, but we stayed positive throughout the race,” Farry said late Tuesday.

Farry far out fundraised Kiley in the months leading up to the election and knocked on thousands of doors throughout the district. The additional spending did not stop Kiley and her campaign from putting up signs and talking to residents of the district.

Farry, who has served three terms in the state house, said he will be back to work on Wednesday.

Kiley was not immediately available for comment via phone late Tuesday.
