According the most recent campaign finance reports for the candidates in the eight congressional district of Pennsylvania, the race is not close as far as fiscal availability goes.

According to recent campaign finance reports, which deal with May and June, Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (Republican) currently has a total of $1,906,830.20. Democratic challenger Kevin Strouse has $268,720.50 available.
As of the filing, Fitzpatrick had nearly seven times as much money as Strouse available for campaign proposes.
As incumbent and only Republican running for the seat, Fitzpatrick did not need to spend money to secure his spot in the general election. Strouse, on the other hand, spent a sizable amount of money earlier in the year to overcome his primary opponent, Shaughnessy Naughton.
Throughout the entire two month period, Fitzpatrick added $428,563.43 to his campaign. Documents show $203,603.11 came from individuals and were itemized in the report, while $194,749.15 came from various Political Action Committees (PACs).
Some of the biggest contributors to the Fitzpatrick campaign include the Prosperity PAC, PH&S Federal PAC, and Pioneer PAC, each donating $5,000 to the Fitzpatrick campaign effort.
Through the same two month period, Kevin Strouse, the challenger to Fitzpatrick, added $201,139.29. Of the total added funds, $146,543.17 came from individuals, and $54,584.34 came from PACs.
The biggest contributors to the Strouse campaign included Plumber’s Local #690 Political Action Fund, United Steel workers Political Action Fund โ Voluntary, and the Sheet Metal Worker’s International Association Political Action League, each donating $5,000 to Strouse’s campaign effort.
When it comes to campaign expenditures, Fitzpatrick has spent a total of $79,624.90 in the past two months, while Strouse has spent $348,223.47 in the same time frame.
Based on the current financial situation the candidates find themselves in, the fight is only beginning for Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional.
