According to court paperwork filed by police, detectives from Falls were investigating a report of ongoing drug use in a room at a hotel located on Cabot Boulevard last Friday night. Through tips, police found out several pipes containing suspected marijuana residue and pills were seen the room, authorities said.

While police were conducting surveillance on the room, they began smelling freshly burnt marijuana coming from the room, police said. Court papers show they weren’t alone, a guest a “significant distance down the hallway” called the front desk to complain about the smell.

About 30 minutes into Saturday, police said they approached Byle and another man, who currently has no charges filed against him as of press time, outside the room. The two appeared to be under the influence of marijuana as evidenced by their glassy, red eyes, lethargic speech and movements, incoherence and other factors, according to court papers.

Inside the hotel room, various pieces of drug paraphernalia were found along with unused marijuana and a rolled up $1 bill surrounded by crushed pills including Oxycodone prescribed to another person, police said.

In his pending trial, Byle is accused of shooting a friend on a Friday evening in early November inside a Nettletree Lane lane home. Investigators found a water bong in the sink, a “large amount of fireworks” and blood leading from the front door to a first floor bedroom when they arrived at the Nettletree Lane home, according to court papers. Police said a revolver was found sitting on a shelf in an open desk.
