
A Levittown teen is accused of stealing alcohol from a home he was trying to burglarize Monday afternoon.
William Somers, 18, was charged with two counts of attempted burglary and single counts of possession of an instrument of crime with intent, theft, loitering and related offenses.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Tullytown Police Chief Daniel Doyle and Officer Phillip Kulan were dispatched to Laurel Lane for a suspicious person spotted “snooping” around and then jumping a fence of a home.
Police were able to stop the 18-year-old nearby and noted in court papers he had a “distraught” look on his face.
Somers told officers he was attempting to “rob” a home in the Lakeside section. He added he could not get in and ended up stealing five bottles of alcohol from the back porch, police said. The alcohol was reportedly found in Somers’ backpack.

Officers found a screw driver on Somers, which police said they later discovered was used to pry open windows.
Upon an interview at the borough police station, Somers said he attempted to burglarizing a home on Lilac Lane over the weekend, but was unsuccessful, according to court papers.

Police said they responded to the home on Lilac Lane late Friday night after the resident discovered someone opened a bedroom window. The resident said they heard the sound of someone running away by the time they discovered the open window, court papers say.
Somers was arraigned Monday night and sent to county jail where he was bailed out. He is currently free on 10 percent of $150,000 bail.
