โThe winter storms just keep coming, and we are extending the waiver toย assistย with deliveries of these essential items,โ said PennDOT Secretary Barry J.ย Schoch.
The exemption applies statewide to the transportation of essential food,ย dairyย products and pharmaceuticals to food distribution, retail and wholesaleย foodย establishments, and the transportation and distribution of agriculturalย feed.
Previously, PennDOT issued a waiver that extended the limits on hours ofย service for fuel delivery and road salt drivers. Drivers usually must takeย aย mandatory rest period after 11 hours behind the wheel. Under the waiver,ย theย limit for driving hours is extended to 14 hours. The waiver for fuelย drivers,ย first grantedย Jan. 10, expired Feb. 11. The waiver for salt drivers wasย effective Feb. 3 and continues untilย March 2.

Any period of seven or eight consecutiveย daysย may end with the beginning of any off-duty period of 34 or more consecutiveย hours.
The new exemption takes effect atย 1:00 a.m. on Feb. 14ย and expires atย midnightย onย Feb. 18.
