SEPTA Announces Plans for Tonight and Friday Morning in Wake of Storm

SEPTA late Thursday afternoon ย announced their plan designed to promote safety throughout the transit system, while also restoring some suspended services and preparing forย Fridayย morning’s commute as the area braces for the second wave of the winter storm on the overnight.

According to officials, SEPTA began restoring full or partial service on 12 bus routes earlier today none of the which run through the Levittown area.
Regional Rail lines will operate on a modified schedule untilย 10 p.m Thursday night ย in ย the interest of the safety of our employees and passengers, SEPTA will work to restore as much service as possible forย Fridayย morning, officials said.

SEPTA crews will work through the night and early morning hours, SEPTA officials said, to monitor conditions and perform tasks necessary to operate as much service as possible on Fridayย morning, a SEPTA spokesperson said.

This will include running pilot vehicles on rail and trolley lines overnight in an effort to keep them clear of ice and ready for the resumption of serviceย on Fridayย morning. In addition, transportation managers dispatched throughout the transit system will assess the conditions of roads and infrastructure to determine which bus routes will be able to resume operations, according to SEPTA officials.

Details aboutย Fridayย morning’s service on bus routes, Regional Rail lines and other SEPTA modes of travel will be available by approximatelyย 5 a.m. Friday. Updates will be posted online atย www.septa.orgย and sent out via Twitter and to local news media outlets.
