A man was arrested Saturday and charged with burglary and related offenses.

Police were called to a distribution business on Route 13 shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday for an alarm activation. An officer spotted a blue pickup truck used by a local scrapper parked outside.

Police checked the building and saw a man run across the warehouse with a cardboard box in his hands, according to court papers. Authorities said officers began searching for the suspect and were unclear whether he had made it clear of the building.

Several minutes later, an entry door in front of Officer John Terman opened and Lionel Chapman, 53, of Bristol Township, appeared, court papers say. Chapman was ordered to the ground at gunpoint and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

The owner of the business and officers checked the business. They discovered Chapman tried to steal three boxes of items. The merchandise was valued at $1,118, court paperwork states.

The 53-year-old is well known to local police and has been arrested several times in the past. He most recently was found guilty of a similar crime.

Chapman was arraigned and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $75,000 bail.
