PECO spokesman Greg Smore said a gas leak was discovered on the service line that runs from the main to the township building. A repair has been put in place and crews will reevaluate the problem next week.

The Falls Township complex in Fairless Hills closed early Friday due to a possible gas leak outside the building.

Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said a strong odor of gas was discovered in the area of Lincoln Highway outside the building and officials felt it best to close up shop early.

PECO crews were called out at 11:30 a.m. and were on scene as of 1:50 p.m. investigating the odor, utility company spokesman Greg Smore said. He said crews could not yet confirm there was a gas leak.
“It’s a never-ending problem. The lines down Lincoln Highway are a problem,” Dippolito said.

Smore told LevittownNow.com only one customer has lost service in the area. PECO workers will remain on scene until they determine what the problem is.
No fire was reported , but the threat is always prevalent when gas leaks happen.
