Police have charged Richard Bowman as the genius who slashed the fully marked patrol car in front of the Bristol Walmart, which is equipped with video surveillance cameras.

Borough police investigated the slashing and learned, from unidentified information, that Bowman was the culprit, according to court documents.

According to the probable cause affidavit, ย Bowman was interviewed ย at his home in Levittown by authorities. He admitted to the wounding the ย patrol car’s tire and provided authorities with a statement admitting to the vandalism.

The police cruiser required the on-call towing ย service to be called and the official vehicle was taken out of service for the evening, court records say. ย Additionally, “at least one officer was out of service” also which caused the availability of a first responder to be restricted as a result of Bowman’s ย gashing of a police vehicles tire.

Bowman was charged with institutional vandalism and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, by mail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 5 at ย Bristol Borough District Court.
