A traffic stop in Bristol Township lead to the discovery of a hidden compartment containing drugs and a stolen handgun.

Angel Jesus Concepcion, 21, of Philadelphia, was stopped by state troopers for his extremely dark window tinting on his 1993 Honda Accord near the intersection of I-95 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) at 1:53 a.m. on October 25.

Concepcion was taken into custody after he admitted to smoking marijuana before driving and, according to police observations, appeared under the influence.

Troopers obtained a search warrant for the car after noticing a strong smell of marijuana in the vehicle. A state police K-9 confirmed their suspicious, court papers say.

Inside the car, state police said they found a locked hidden compartment, which was made of reinforced steel, behind the front passenger seat. They were able to partially open the compartment troopers stated  in court papers, and spotted drugs and a handgun.

A pry bar was used to open the compartment after the electronic opening device could not be located, police said.

Here’s what troopers say they found inside:

  • 1 bag containing 34 smaller baggies of suspected cocaine (About 10.2 grams)
  • 2 suspected Oxycodone pills
  • 16 suspected Xanax pills
  • 1 bag containing 3 grams of suspected marijuana
  • 1 Taurus Millennium Pro PT pistol
  • 10 rounds of .45 ammunition loaded in the handgun

When investigators put the gun’s serial number through a crime database, they discovered the firearm was reported stolen out of West Whiteland in Chester County. State police report the gun was stolen on August 31.

Concepcion was charged last Friday with 11 drug- and gun-related felony charges. He also faces 4 other misdemeanor and summary offenses. The 21-year-old used his own money to meet his 10 percent of $100,000 bail set by District Judge Joanne Kline, according to a court docket sheet.
