Middletown Detective Christopher Jones dedicated his life to the service of the community, and even in the wake of his passing, that spirit lives on.
The Detective Christopher Jones Foundation celebrated its third anniversary in August. The group has offered $54,000 criminal justice scholarships, community service awards and help to those in need in the past three years.

A press release from the foundation notes the donations are a “true testament to not only the commitment of our wonderful volunteers, but also to our wonderful supporters throughout the community.”
The group formed in 2010 following the 2009 death of Jones, who was struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on Route 1 just before the I-95 on-ramp. Jones was a 10-year Middletown officer, promoted to detective after his death.
The Detective Christopher Jones Foundation has had the support of local residents and area eateries who have hosted dine-in events to raise funds for the group, according to the group. The annual Oktoberfest fundraiser happened last month and a 5K was held in April.

Moving forward, the group plans to continue giving back to the community Jones gave his life protecting.
