Police Checking If Body Found in Camden is Missing Man

Police are investigating whether the body that washed up near the banks of the Delaware River in Camden is that of Bensalem man who went missing last week.

Bensalem police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman said his department is continuing to investigate whether the body belonged to the missing man, Xiang “Billy” He, 38.

The South Jersey Times reported Tuesday the body was found at around 9 a.m. A Camden County police spokesman told the newspaper the body was discovered in the water and was not yet identified.

He has been presumed dead after his red kayak was found unattended in New Jersey last week.

The 38-year-old was last seen at around 1 p.m. last Tuesday at the boat ramp on River Road in Bensalem’s Torresdale Manor section, police said. He was known to keep his boat in that area. Police said that He’s vehicle was found unattended at the boat dock. He is known to travel using a red kayak from a the dock to his boat, which is moored in the river.

Marine units from the Croydon Fire Company, Union Fire Company, Bensalem Fire Rescue, Philadelphia Police Department, the Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police have been out in the river for the missing man. A New Jersey State Police helicopter and Philadephia’s Air-Tac police chopper have also been used to search the river.

The search area extended last week from Croydon into Philadelphia.
