The Lower Bucks Family YMCA is coming back to Bristol Borough. The news was announced at ย Monday night’s Bristol Borough Council meeting.
President of PT Transformations, Patrick Mulhern, said ย he is donating the space ย PT Transformationsย now occupies at 400 Mill Street to organization that has served the Lower Bucks community for decades.

“It’s really exciting news” Mulhern said, adding that it’s a “homecoming” for the organization whose mission is toย build healthier communities.
“We’ve brought the gym as far as we can, ” he said, ย and will now ย donateย the space ย to the community health focused non-profit.
“Our plan moving forward is to move in ย by November 1,” ย Tom Swanciger, CEO of Lower Bucks Family YMCA.

The announcement came with thunderous applause, as the goal of making ย Mill Street thrive continues ย to move ย forward with revitalization now ย more than something planned for but coming to fruition.
“We’re thrilled ย about coming back to Bristol. We are very grateful for Mr. Mulhern’s generous donation,” Swanciger said.

Plans are in the works for an open house-like event that could potentially happen the week before Lower Bucks Family YMCA officiallyย opens their new Bristol home.
Mulheren, speaking to council, shared that he go his “professional start” at the YMCA as a trainer and felt his personal and professional commitment training made this an easy decision for him.
Talking about the history of the Lower Bucks YMCA ย he said “it’s ย like a homecoming” since Lower Bucks YMCA ย was started years ago by Bristol High School teacher John Burriss and operated out of the school for some time before moving to the firehouse on Mansion Street in Bristol.
