Neshaminy Board Member Resigns Abruptly

With two years left on his term, Neshaminy School Board member Kim Koutsouradis resigned Tuesday evening from his elected post.

In a phone interview Wednesday, Koutsouradis told LevittownNow.com that “life pulled me in a lot of different directions recently. That’s why I resigned.”

The married father of children is a resident of Lower Southampton and business owner in the township. He has served Neshaminy’s Region 1, which covers all of Lower Southampton and parts of Middletown, for the past six years.

“I’ve been contemplating this decision for the past few months,” Koutsouradis said. He added that his is proud of his time on the Neshaminy School Board and may consider running for public office again in the future. At a time when life is less hectic.

Often outspoken Lower Southampton resident Steve Pirritano won Koutsouradis’ support for filling the remaining two years on the board.

“Stephen is a very active, engaging smart man in our community,” Koutsouradis said. “There is not a better person to fill the spot.”

Koutsouradis has previously voiced support for consolidation in the district.

During previous public comment sessions, Pirritano has supported the consolidating the Neshaminy School District, which will likely means closing schools and building a new facility.

Middletown resident Angie Manning is also expected to file an application to the fill Koutsouradis’ vacated spot on the board. Manning is a New Jersey teacher and help lead a fight to get the consolidation plan on the ballot for the November election.

School Board President Ritchie Webb often joked that he had just learned this years to pronounce Koutsouradis’ name correctly.

Region 1 resident interested in apply for the application can apply to Superintendent Robert Copeland.

State regulations for school boards require the position to be filled within 30 days.
