It was announced on Monday that Target had purchased and donated 450 Red Cross emergency preparedness kits for Bucks County residents.
The kits, which were presented at a ceremoney at the Target in Bensalem, have been turned over to the United Way of Bucks County for distribution throughout the county.

After the massive four-alarm fire at the Racquet Club Apartments in Middletown and Hurricane Sandy, which left the majority of Levittown without power for days, the Red Cross and Target decided Bucks County was the perfect place to donate the kits, Red Cross and Target officials said.

“What’s good for the community is good for target,” John Griffin, Target’s group asset protection team leader for the region, said. “We want to have a hand in making sure the community bounces back for a disaster.”

Katie Parsell, director of community resiliency at the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania, said the kits are helpful in times of crisis and that every family should have one.
The United Way of Bucks County will be handling how the donated kits are distributed throughout the county.
