Roof Ripped Off Car That Went Under Tractor-Trailer, Driver Survives

A young man is lucky to be alive after his Nissan Sentra went under a tractor-trailer in the 2300 block of Bristol Pike (Route 13) in the Croydon section of Bristol Township Wednesday afternoon.

Croydon Fire Company Chief Tom Tryon said male driver suffered head lacerations and chest pains in the crash that violently ripped the roof off of the car. Information on the seriousness of the man’s condition was not available as of press time.

“The car went in one side and out the other,” Tryon told LevittownNow.com. He added that the accident knocked the truck’s front hydraulic landing gear off.

The young man was freed from the wreckage in about 6 minutes, the chief said. The young man was then was transported to an area hospital by the Bucks County Rescue Squad.

Firefighters from Bristol Borough, Edgely, Newportville  Fire crews arrived to help Croydon crews. Tryon said his department was quickly able to begin the rescue because their engine truck carries special vehicle rescue tools.
