Bensalem officials are warning motorists about a police impersonator.

According to authorities, a newer, white Chevrolet Impala with red and blue emergency lights in the front grill, on the dashboard and in the rear deck stopped a man in the 3200 block of Hulmeville Road Monday at around 1 a.m.

The suspected police imposter asked from the man’s driver’s license. The man got out of his vehicle when he felt the man was not a real police officer, according to a press release.

The Impala was last spotted fleeing north on Hulmeville Road.

“It is possible the subject may have thought he stopped a female,” police said.

The subject was described as white male in his 40s, approximately 6 feet tall, thin build, short dark hair light beard with gray in it, a pointy nose and sharp facial features. The suspect was wearing a blue long sleeve sweater with black pants and dark sneakers.

“We are reminding motorists if you are stopped by someone and you feel it is not a police officer, lock your doors, ask the person for identification and call 911. A Police officers badge will have a Police Department name on it,” police said.
