While the official cause of the Racquet Club Apartment complex fire remains under investigation, Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said the adult male and a teenager hurt in the massive blaze are out of the hospital and recovering.

The man was taken to Temple University Burn Center and the teen was transported to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment. Two firefighters were also injured but were quickly treated and released.

Investigation has shown that the fire started in a second-floor unit in the B building, where the two victims were, McGuire said. However, the fire marshal declined to disclose the exact cause of the fire. Previously, officials have said the fire did not appear to be suspicious.

Middletown Township officials said Friday they have not received a filing for demolition permits at the site.

Due to the size of the blaze, police are assisting fire investigators.

The fire was reported at around 9 p.m. on Friday, July 26. Flames quickly reached the attic of the apartment building and quickly jumped past fire walls and spread, eventually engulfing the entire U-shaped building and displacing hundreds.

Close to 200 firefighters from across Bucks County responded and fought the blaze into the early morning hours of Saturday, July 27.

The complex required all residents of the apartment complex to have renters insurance.
