It was announced Friday that Melissa Kitzmiller will be running for Middletown Township Supervisor. The local realtor and community activist is replacing Ben Hoffman, who withdrew from the election.
Kitzmiller, a Democrat, is running with fellow party member Rich Nuttall.

“My involvement with Neshaminy PTOs, the Middletown Community Foundation, youth athletics, and various neighborhood organizations have given me a broad range of community experience and a wealth of valuable contacts through personal interaction with the best our community has to offer: volunteers,” Kitzmiller said in a statement.
A group of township Democrats applied to fill Hoffman’s vacancy, but Kitzmiller was picked to be on the November ticket.
“I admire all that Missy has done to improve our community over the years,” running mate Rich Nuttall said. “I look forward to working with her through November, and beyond, to create a positive future for Middletown Township.”

Harry Arnold, head of the Democratic Party of Middletown Township, said that Kitzmiller brings plenty of experience to the race.
“Missy’s many years of community service have provided her a deep knowledge of the challenges facing our neighborhoods. She will be a hard-working public servant and a bright light on a Board that sorely needs one,” Arnold said.

“I look forward to this opportunity to bring my years of community volunteerism and experience into our township government,” said the newly announced candidate.
Kitzmiller was among a group of local residents who helped organize a massive donation drive following the four-alarm fire at the Racquet Club Apartments in July.
Republicans William Oettinger and incumbent Supervisor H. George Leonhauser are running against Kitzmiller and Nuttal. Oettinger is currently finishing out his time of the Neshaminy School Board.
