If you think you’re paying too much for your electric bill, then you should a take a page out of Bristol Townships playbook since rates for street lights in the township will be dropping approximately 41 percent later this summer.
In a unanimous vote of 6-0, the township council approved a new three-year fixed rate deal ย with Constellation energy, a Baltimore based company, last night.

The rate currently being charged, and paid by the municipality, isย $0.0677 per kilowatt-hour. The new rate the township will be paying to Constellation ย is $0.03998 per kilowatt-hour, a savings of ย $7130.oo ย monthly basis and for ย a ย year $85,563.00 ย Township Manager Bill McCauley said.
Council President Lewis thanked McCauley for his work on the new deal by pointing out the more than quarter of million dollar savings saying it was a ย “good job,” by the administrator.
UGI energy services the current provider of electricity for the townships street lights, contract expires in August.

McCauley said, the new rate is the longest the township could the new fixed price for. He also added that Good Energy, which has been seeking proposals on behalf of the municipality, is currently seeking bids for electricity contracts expiring in November for the township too.
McCauley expects the township to reap “significant savings” in new the deals Good Energy will be seeking for the township.

Councilman Tony Tucker was not present for last nights meeting.
“Once again, we’ve proved we’re here to save money, not spend it, ”ย Councilwoman Longhitano said after meeting.
