Jermaine Jackson, 20, of Trenton, N.J., was sentenced to life behind bars for his part in the Dec. 28, 2011 murder of beloved Levittown musician Danny DeGennero, iRadioPhilly.com reports.
Jackson was found guilty on Monday of second-degree murder and other charges after a week-long trial in Dolyestown. The trial featured witnesses and evidence that pinned him as the mastermind behind the robbery attempt that went wrong.

“If ever there was a case where a life sentence was appropriate it saddens me to say this is it,” Judge Rea B. Boylan said at the sentencing hearing on Thursday, according to Philly.com.
“There’s no winner today. The only way we’d celebrate is if my son was home and Danny DeGennaro walked through that door,” PhillyBurbs.com quoted Jackson’s father, Michael, as stating during the hearing.
Members of the DeGennaro family spoke at the hearing and told the judge how the death had negatively impacted their lives, the websites reported.

During the trial, Jackson’s father sat in and decried outside to reporters that his son was innocent. The father said he helps organize anti-violence rallies in Trenton.
The two other men closely involved in the DeGennero slaying will face trial in June. Two young woman involved in the incident will be facing trial in the coming months.
