Imagine coming home to find a burglar in your house. Now imagine chasing that person out of your house and into the woods.

That’s exactly what a Oaktree Drive resident did last week, according to police.

The homeowner came home just before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday to find a man inside her Bristol Township home, police said.

According to court documents, the suspect fled and the woman chased the man as he threw a Coach handbag and a digital camera he took from the house. As the chase continued into a wooded area, the woman watched the suspect throw what looked like a handgun as he crossed a stream, police said. That is when she stopped pursuing the man.

Responding officers and a K-9 unit followed the woman’s directions and caught up with and arrested the suspect- later identified as Daniel Shaw, 25, of Outlook Lane – off Overbrook Lane. A knife with a 5-inch blade was recovered on Shaw, police said.

Additional charges of make repairs/sell offensive an weapon, intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person who is not registered and related charges were also lodged against Shaw. Those charges stem from a November incident in Bristol Township. Bail on those charges is 10 percent of $25,000.
