Blue Reign Rocks Out In Support of Warming Hearts Project at Roadhouse Inn

Blue Reign rocked the Road House Inn in Newportville, Saturday night in an effort to raise money for the Warming Hearts Project.

Blues fueled covers, that often echo the feelings homelessness  and the challenges of overcoming the often devastating life circumstance, resounded as a collective cathartic release was experienced by those singing along with one blues classic after another.

Playing three sets that covered Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix, and everything in between, the audience swayed and danced, and egged on  Tracy “The Diva” Adams’ as her powerful pipes roared on such classics like Led Zeppelin’s “Bring on Home ”  and Bad Company’s “Rick Steady. ”

Adams exhorted the hundreds in who showed up,  song and after song to buy $1 tickets for three whacks at a guitar pinata with the proceeds going to the Bristol Borough based organization that provides and supports homeless locals.

“There are plenty of organizations in the area, but we’re about helping those in the Bristol area, specifically,”  current program coordinator Joe Nicito, said.

Right now there’s  tent city in the area with just women, for example, and as much as we would like to think this isn’t a problem, it is. We’re out here tonight, raising what we can with the help of Blue Reign so we can purchase basic need items for those women, and the others we provide services too. In fact, we just placed two men who had been homeless, and living in area tent cities for years, in their first apartments,” beamed Nocito.

Adams, and husband George  who plays lead guitar in band, said they came up with the idea for the gig to be a fundraiser, late last week, but felt passionate enough about the mission Warming Hearts Project that the Croydon based band wanted to help in any way they could.

“We’re a local band, we have local people in need, so we keep it local,” said Adams.

The total raised was $142 to be used to purchase gift cards and take those dealing with the everyday challenge of homelessness shopping to purchase basic needs items, like mouthwash, toothpaste and deodorant.

Blue Reign will be playing “Hurricane Jack’s 1st Annual Blues Outdoor Fest on June 1st
