Students and community members are taking to social media in an effort to entice comedian and syndicated TV host Ellen DeGeneres to attend the nationally-recognized Pennsbury High School Senior Prom.
A group of students produced a video featuring highlights from last year’s prom and chanting for Ellen to come. The video is posted on YouTube and is being shared on Twitter using the hashtag #EllenToPennsburyProm.

Here’s the plea from Pennsbury students:
Pennsbury High School has the number one prom in America voted by Readers Digest and Time magazine. Prom is held within our school which is transformed to be unrecognizable. Years of planning go into each and every prom. Musical guests such as Ryan Cabrera and John Mayer have both played at our prom. This year, we want our prom to be the best prom to date. If we are able to get Ellen Degeneres attention, she will hopefully be able to bring a musical guest. If you want to help, please watch this video, show your friends, post it on social media, and anything else you think would help. Thank you!!!
The prom has featured performances by John Mayer, Maroon 5, T. Mills and Pennsbury graduate Asher Roth in recent years. Students are currently hoping DeGeneres will bring a musical performer with her if she comes.
In 2004, Reader’s Digest ranked the prom the best in America. A book has also been written about the prom and the parade that lead up to it.
