The man found in the Delaware River in Bristol Township over the weekend died from drowning and hypothermia, according to autopsy results released by police.
The name and age of the man have not yet been determined as the body suffered decomposition, Bristol Township police Lt. Terry Hughes said Tuesday afternoon. He said the coroner’s office was unsure of how long the body was in the river.
Hughes said authorities are planning to use dental records to try to identify the body.
Investigators are following leads to determine who the body found Saturday afternoon by New Jersey officials belonged to, according to Hughes.
“We don’t suspect foul play was involved,” the lieutenant said.
Croydon Fire Company members along with other local fire departments responded to the area of the river behind Dow Chemical to remove the body from the water at 3:30 p.m., an emergency official told LevittownNow.com.
