A dog stuck in the rising water of the Neshaminy Creek over the weekend in Bristol Township is resting while police search for its owners.
NBC 10 reported during their 11 p.m. Monday night newscast that the dog, which is between 8 and 11 years old, was left to die with its leash tied to a rock in the creek.

Wyatt Erb and his wife saved the dog, according to the Bucks County SPCA.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has issued a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who left the dog.
“Animal abusers are cowards,” PETA Manager Martin Mersereau said in a press release. “Area residents have good reason to be concerned. People who demonstrate such blatant disregard for life and desensitization to suffering can pose a serious risk to all animals—including humans—with whom they come into contact.”

Police told NBC 10 the dog suffered abuse and had a large tumor that has not been treated. The SPCA, where the dog is being cared for, said Tuesday the dog’s condition is stable. The added Wednesday afternoon that she is being treated for ear, eye and skin conditions.
Officials have named the dog Brooke.
