Roger Cobb’s night got crazy just before 1 a.m. last Tuesday.

According to Bristol Township police, officers on patrol spotted Cobb, 55, of Croydon, run a stop sign at the intersection of Fleetwing Drive and Green Lane. They activated their emergency lights and tried to stop Cobb’s Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra. However, he continued to drive through the Bloomsdale-Fleetwing section without pulling over, police said.

When the car finally stopped, Cobb got out of the Cutlass and fled on foot toward the rear of a house in the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue, police said.

Police finally caught up to Cobb and found him with his hands in his jacket pockets; officers asked him to remove his hands. He did not comply, court records state.

As two officers worked to remove his hands from his pockets, he began to resist and police had to wrestle him to the ground. Once on the ground, he held his hands under his body to prevent officers from handcuffing him, police said. They added that they used “necessary force to handcuff the subject.”

Cobb is alleged to have told police he “threw the crack out the window onto the street” before he was stopped.

The 55-year-old is charged with hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and a minor traffic violation for running the stop sign.

Cobb was not sent to prison and has a preliminary hearing set for May.
