A 14-year-old Bristol Township boy was taken into police custody Thursday evening in connection with a threat made online against Maple Point Middle School, police confirmed to LevittownNow.com.

The boy was identified as the suspect quickly and that led to him being detained, Middletown Township police Detective Lt. Steve Forman said, adding the teen didn’t attend the Neshaminy School District.

The threat led Neshaminy officials to close both Maple Point Middle School and Core Creek Elementary School on Thursday out of an “abundance of caution.”
Middletown Township investigators worked with the police school resource officers and district to identify the suspect. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Bucks County Juvenile Probation Department provided assistance during the investigation.

The two impacted schools, which share a campus, ran on an asynchronous remote learning model for the day.
Other schools within the district were not impacted by the threat and maintained normal operating schedules Thursday.

In an evening update, Superintendent Jason Bowman confirmed that law enforcement addressed the threat and stated that there is no ongoing danger to the school community.

“All Neshaminy School District schools, including Core Creek Elementary School and Maple Point Middle School, will open and operate on their regular schedules tomorrow, Friday,” Bowman said.
Bowman thanked the Middletown Township Police Department and law enforcement partners for their response, while also thanking families for their patience and cooperation.
