State officials have awarded more than $600,000 in grants to fund initiatives across 14 Pennsylvania counties, Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger announced in late spring.

The funding is distributed through the state’s Municipal Assistance Program (MAP), which helps local governments manage development while planning and implementing new policies, programs, and projects.

Among the recipients in the 2025–2026 grant cycle is Langhorne Borough, which received $20,000 to overhaul its 1995 zoning ordinance.

Borough officials, working alongside the Bucks County Planning Commission, will use the money to update the nearly three-decade-old regulations.

The comprehensive revision will incorporate alternative energy and wireless facilities, while updating maps, graphs, and figures based on feedback from residents and local stakeholders, according to the borough.

The project will separate the borough’s historic district ordinance from the broader zoning ordinance, establishing it as a standalone piece of legislation.

The overhaul is expected to take at least 18 months.

During the 18 months, borough officials and the Bucks County Planning Commission plan to outline project goals and identify current challenges facing the community.

The groups will then draft the updated zoning map, individual ordinance articles, and the revised historic district regulations, officials said.

Before starting the formal adoption process, the revised ordinances will be presented to the Langhorne Borough Planning Commission.

Throughout the process, officials said they will gather public and stakeholder input, hosting discussions at regularly scheduled public
