Lane closures are scheduled from Monday, April 27, through Friday, May 1. The restrictions will be in effect in both directions of Route 1 approaching I-295 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

PennDOT officials warned drivers to expect backups and advised travelers to allow extra time when passing through the work zone.

All scheduled construction activities are dependent on weather conditions.

The work is part of a $37.4 million federally funded project that will undertake high-priority repairs on interstate bridges to ensure safety and mobility, according to PennDOT.

Under the contract, IEW Construction Group, Inc., of Hamilton, New Jersey, will repair deteriorated bridge decks, superstructure components, and portions of the substructures.

The project is being financed with 100% federal funds, according to PennDOT.
