A sobriety checkpoint late last month resulted in two arrests, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
The checkpoint took place from 8 p.m. Friday, March 20, through 4 a.m. Saturday, March 21. Troopers established the checkpoint at the intersection of Pine Street (Route 413) and Maple Avenue in Langhorne Borough, a state police official said.
During the eight-hour operation, troopers stopped vehicles to briefly observe drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
State police reported that the checkpoint led to one arrest for DUI and one arrest for drugs. Additionally, troopers issued 20 citations and 15 warnings to motorists.
The enforcement effort is part of a broader strategy to improve road safety in the state.
“The goal of a sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers,” state police said in a statement.
