A fire at a scrap yard sent thick smoke into the Friday morning sky, but it was contained relatively quickly.

The fire at Sims Metal Management on Steel Road in the Keystone Trade Center was dispatched at 8:10 a.m.
Firefighters got to the scene to find several scrap vehicles ablaze.
Falls Township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the workers at the scrap yard were already using cranes to pull the burning pile apart and putting water on the flames.

Firefighters had the fire under control quickly and doused the burning pile with water, Dippolito said.
The fire was caused by a small amount of fuel in a scrap vehicle’s tank and a spark that set it ablaze, the fire marshal said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, and the damage was contained to vehicles that were going to be shredded.
The Falls Township, Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 1, and Morrisville fire companies responded. A tanker truck from New Jersey and the Upper Makefield Fire Company were also called to the scene.
