Woman Hospitalized After Minivan & PennDOT Truck Collide

A woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after her minivan and a PennDOT dump truck collided.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. at Bellevue Avenue and East Parker Street in Langhorne Manor Borough.

The driver of the minivan was trapped in the smashed vehicle and had to be freed by rescue crews who cut the door open, according to Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry.

Farry said the woman appeared to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman was transported to a local hospital by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.

The driver of the PennDOT truck did not appear to be injured.

The truck involved was based at the yard off the Newtown Bypass, according to a PennDOT source.

The source said the truck was one of several vehicles dispatched early Thursday to treat icy patches on area roads.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the collision.

Bellevue Avenue was closed to traffic while crews cleared the scene.

The roadway was reopened by 7:30 a.m.

The Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company was assisted on the scene by the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and the Parkland, Penndel, and William Penn fire companies.
