Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement this week that the driver was using a cell phone when his car left the highway.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, on I-295 eastbound near Langhorne-Yardley Road in Lower Makefield Township.

According to a report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu veered off the road and into the center grass median. The vehicle then struck a tree, which caused the sedan to spin. The Malibu subsequently rolled onto its driverโ€™s side, striking a fence that divides the highway before rolling back upright.

The car came to rest down the embankment and ended up along Langhorne-Yardley Road below the highway.

The driver, a 24-year-old Ewing, New Jersey, man, sustained a minor injury in the crash, state police said.

The Yardley-Makefield Emergency Unit responded to the scene, but the man refused transport for medical care.

State troopers investigated the incident and determined that the man was distracted by his cell phone at the time of the crash.

Police said the driver will be cited for using his phone while operating the vehicle.
