The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors this month awarded a $158,373.75 contract to NJS Concrete, of Lower Southampton Township, for the work.
According to Township Engineer Isaac Kessler, seven contractors submitted bids, with NJS Concrete providing the lowest qualifying proposal.
The project is fully funded by a $160,400 Community Development Block Grant received by the township.

The new ramps will be installed at nine intersections within Juniper Hill.

Initially, the project included eight intersections as a base bid, with a ninth at Jollybrook and Jasmine roads as an alternate.

Kessler said favorable pricing allowed the township to include all nine locations within the grant budget.
Kessler added that the township has worked with NJS Concrete on previous curb ramp programs and that “they’ve done very nice work.”
One of the ramps, located at Jasmine Road, will create an accessible path to a footbridge that connects the Juniper Hill and Lower Orchard neighborhoods.

“We’re excited that that’s been able to be included in the program this year,” Kessler said.
The project is part of the township’s annual ADA curb ramp improvement program.
