Missanelli’s departure was part of a series of cuts made by the station’s owner, Beasley Media Group, on Friday, according to media trade publication RadioInsight.

The national media chain, which has a reputation for cost-cutting, also made cuts in Boston and New Jersey.

“Friday was Mike’s last day at the station,” Beasley Media Group spokesperson Heidi Raphael told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “We are grateful for his contributions to the station and our listeners, and we wish him all the best.”

According to the sports and media site Crossing Broad, Missanelli will be paid for the remainder of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the NFL season.

A native of Bristol Borough, Missanelli was brought back to 97.5 The Fanatic last August after a change in management.

At the time, Beasley Media Group Philadelphia Vice President and Cluster Manager Paul Blake praised Missanelli’s return.

“With over 25 years as an iconic sports radio talk show host, Mike’s insightful commentary and engaging style, along with his passion and expertise, make him the perfect fit to lead our station into an exciting new era,” Blake said last year.

Missanelli, who hosted a midday show, previously worked at the station for 15 years before unexpectedly leaving in 2022. He also worked as a sports reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer and hosted other programs previously.
