Shapiro, a Democrat, is expected to emphasize that “success is not a one-size-fits-all approach,” according to a statement from the school district.

The governor will be speaking to the 745 seniors of the Class of 2025 at Falcon Field in Falls Township.

“The Governor will talk about respecting all paths to success — whether graduates go straight into the workforce, enroll in a trade school, enter the military, or go to college — and remind graduates that they have the freedom to chart their own course and the opportunity to succeed,” the governor’s office said.

The governor’s Thursday evening remarks will come just days after he announced a major Amazon data center would open in Falls Township, a project that includes a partnership with Pennsbury to prepare students for high-tech careers.

The Class of 2025 has been awarded at least 72 different scholarships, totaling more than $1.5 million. Graduates have committed to a range of post-secondary plans, including trade schools, the military, and two- and four-year colleges and universities such as the Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgetown University, Howard University, New York University, Penn State University, Princeton University, UCLA, University of Florida, and the University of Virginia, per the district.

Student speakers at the commencement ceremony will include Class President Riley Kopceuch, Senior School Board Representative Zaki Ali, and Top Scholar Wesley Rittenhouse. Remarks will also be given by Pennsbury School Board Member TR Kannan, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith, and Pennsbury High School Campus Principal Reginald Meadows.

First Lady Lori Shapiro grew up in Lower Makefield Township, but she did not attend Pennsbury High School. The Shapiros met while students at a Hebrew high school in Montgomery County.
