

A Berks County man is in custody after a daylong crime spree that spanned multiple counties and included a bank robbery in Falls Township, authorities said.

Michael Todd Trumbore, 56, of Maxatawny, Berks County, was arrested Monday afternoon in Exeter Township after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Philadelphia dealership, stealing a license plate in Lower Makefield Township, and robbing a bank in Falls Township, according to police and court documents.

Philadelphia police said Trumbore went to Hessert Chevrolet in Northeast Philadelphia around 10:30 a.m. and filled out paperwork to purchase a 2016 Kia Sportage.
Before the sale was completed, he took the keys and drove away, police said.

About an hour and a half later, Lower Makefield Township police responded to a report of a stolen license plate at a Giant Food Store.
A witness told officers a man matching Trumbore’s description was seen removing a plate from a vehicle and fleeing in a dark-colored Kia Sportage. The witness took photos of the suspect, police said.

Shortly after, Falls Township police were called to a TD Bank in Morrisville on West Trenton Avenue for a reported robbery.

A teller told officers a man, who was later identified as Trumbore, handed her a note demanding money and saying he had a gun. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, police said.
“I have a gun and will use it. Give me the money,” the note allegedly said.

A photo taken by the witness at Giant Food Store showed the Kia Sportage had a Hessert Chevrolet window sticker, police said.
Dealership personnel confirmed the vehicle theft and identified Trumbore through his driver’s license, police said.

Trumbore’s probation officer also identified him in surveillance photos from the bank robbery, police said.
Falls Township police stationed officers along major roadways as they searched for the suspect.

Around 3 p.m., Exeter Township police in Berks County stopped Trumbore in the stolen Kia Sportage, which was displaying the stolen license plate, police said.
Law enforcement officials said he was arrested and found to be in possession of a “large amount” of cash.

According to media reports and court records, Trumbore has served time in custody for past bank robberies in Pennsylvania and New York.
A Falls Township police spokesperson told LevittownNow.com that Trumbore was being held at the Berks County Correctional Facility on a state parole board detainer.
A warrant was issued late Monday afternoon in Bucks County on charges of robbery, simple assault, receiving stolen property and theft.
