Cab Of Truck Melts In Route 1 Blaze

A morning truck fire heavily damaged a vehicle and briefly stalled northbound traffic on Route 1.

Firefighters, including from the Parkland Fire Company and the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services, were dispatched to the scene at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday after reports of a truck ablaze in the northbound lanes of the highway.

The fire happened on a stretch of Route 1 northbound located between Fox Court and Fee Avenue in Middletown Township

Firefighters found smoke pouring from the vehicle as flames engulfed the cab, according to a witness.

The fire burned so hot that it completely destroyed and melted the truck’s cab.

The highway’s northbound lanes were blocked in the area of the fire for a short period while crews worked to clear the scene.

There was no immediate word of any serious injuries resulting from the incident.

The incident happened during a busy morning for emergency crews on local roadways. The incident happened shortly after a crash with fire closed the Burlington-Bristol Bridge and a tanker truck caught fire on I-95.
