

A dusting of Sunday evening snow and below-freezing overnight temperatures were the perfect recipe for trouble on the roads Monday.

Bucks County’s 9-1-1 center received multiple reports of crashes on icy roads during the morning commute.
Bucks Countians in the lower and central parts of the county reported black ice on the roads and slick conditions on sidewalks and in parking lots.
On icy Maple Avenue (Route 213) at the I-295 overpass in Middletown Township, a woman had to be removed from her car after a crash that left the vehicle pinned against the overpass fence.

The woman was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital.
Falls Township police Lt. Chris Clark said Route 13 was the scene of a number of weather-related problems, including crashes.

There were no serious injuries, but police responded to the highway.
In one incident, a Falls Township police vehicle blocking lanes of travel was struck by two vehicles in the slippery conditions, Clark said. There were no injuries, but the two vehicles that struck the police car had to be towed.
Middletown Township police said icy conditions led to them closing parts of Bridgetown Pike, Langhorne-Newtown Road (Route 413), and Old Mill Drive.

“We have had numerous accidents, vehicles into ditches,” police said.
Bristol Township police Sgt. Jason Mancuso said officers in the township handled two crashes, but it was unsure if they were weather related.

PennDOT and municipal crews were on the roads salting, but icy conditions persisted.
According to state tracking software, PennDOT trucks were traversing the area during the morning rush hour.

By 9 a.m., the roads started to warm up and reports of slippery conditions began to decreased.
By afternoon, the National Weather Service was reporting a temperature around 50 degrees in the Levittown area.
